<h4>Hermosa Beach has shaped who I am for over 20 years</h4><p>I grew up in Hermosa Beach and this community shaped who I am, which is why I want to <strong>protect what makes this town special</strong>. I struggled as a student at Hermosa Valley—dropping out of Mira Costa before turning things around at El Camino and eventually earning degrees from UCLA and Harvard. That journey forged my resilience and commitment to service, and it was only possible because <strong>this community was there for me.</strong></p><p>My journey in public service began in the Peace Corps before I took on a vital role at the FDA, partnering with Congress on strengthening fiscal oversight for over $1 billion in new spending and increasing drug manufacturer accountability. Today, I'm an executive at Megafire Action, the leading wildfire policy nonprofit spearheading the most significant wildfire reforms in 50 years.</p><p>After earning my MBA from Harvard Business School, I returned home with my fiancée, Annika, to build our future here. Locally, I've advocated for real solutions—speaking up at countless City Council meetings, promoting community engagement with local government, and serving on the Hermosa Beach Civic Facilities Advisory Group.</p><p>My work helping solve complex problems at the highest levels of government has taught me that leadership means listening, questioning assumptions, and working in good faith to find solutions—even with people you disagree with. As our country commemorates its 250th anniversary, <strong>I'm running for City Council to bring that spirit home to Hermosa, give back to the community that raised me, and make local government work better for <u>you.</u></strong></p>

<p>As an executive at Megafire Action, I'm leading the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/live/kgRKvVpdH5g?si=DFiIr_vjnjyc6CRR&amp;t=365" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Joint Megafire Prevention Package,</strong></a><strong> </strong>the most comprehensive in California history—<strong>cutting red tape and improving the effectiveness of state wildfire spending twelvefold.</strong></p><p>I led the effort to form the unified Wildland Fire Service, which will <strong>streamline a $4+ billion budget and increase agency performance.</strong></p><p>I also advanced the landmark Fix Our Forests Act, positioning the reforms to become law this year. The bipartisan bill cuts red tape and stops frivolous lawsuits, reducing overhead on the <strong>$500M federal forests budget.</strong></p>

<h2>Biggest federal wildfire reforms in 50 years</h2>

<p>As the FDA liaison to Congress during the pandemic, I worked with both parties to <strong>secure and oversee $1 billion in emergency funding</strong>—ensuring those dollars were deployed effectively, transparently, and with strong accountability.</p><p>I worked closely with FDA inspectors to strengthen drug manufacturing safety, <strong>led efforts to save ~$20M by shutting down an aging lab</strong> and redistributing its functions rather than rebuilding it, and secured a <strong>full pandemic after-action review</strong> so we could measure what worked, what didn’t, and improve future performance.</p>

Safety starts with a <strong>fully staffed and equipped police department.</strong> My wildfire work has taught me that <strong>safety requires prevention:</strong> safer bike lanes, reckless e-bikers off the strand, and simple fixes like blind-spot mirrors, better lighting, and clearer crosswalks.</p>
